We have had a two year old (and his parents) staying for a couple of days.
I am so pleased I no longer have a two year old... and that I am never going to have another two year old.
This one was generally pretty good natured but not overly disciplined. Actually I think I became somewhat unpopular when I told him sharply not to argue the other night... maybe I was less intolerant when my kids were little, or maybe mine didn't argue with me, I can't remember. Anyway I am too old to put up with repeated "No"s to a perfectly reasonable request.
Nice to see them come, nice to see them go...

Don't get a parrot. They are perpetually in the terrible twos, and of course everyone else thinks they're being cute.
I had to giggle.. I've never been fond of other people's children (partic toddlers), and no doubt all those ignored parental friends are going to laugh long and loud at my fate ;-)
LOL my parents had a cockatoo and it used to argue... (poor thing had had a less than stable life and was quite old and set in it's ways by the time they got it though) At least with a parrot if you shut it in it's cage in a room by itself for an hour or so no one calls the authorities on you!
I think this kid has his parents sorted out actually, his mother freely admits she threatens him with time out and doesn't often follow through and generally he just keeps doing what he wants to. It's a shame because he's a sweetie a lot of the time, talks very well and quite a lot of fun. I snapped after ten minutes of 'stop hitting the table with your fork' interspersed with 'no' with no one taking it to the next step (eg taking his fork off him)...
I do know as a parent my children were never rough on animals because I find that intolerable, and they learnt at a very early age. So flying leaps to land on top of the cat don't go down very well in my book, I know he wasn't being malicious about it, I just don't find it cute at all....
